In this study, Italian startups are examined to identify their digital behavior. The use of intra-organizational as well as inter-organizational electronic infrastructures is analyzed. By using a mixed methods approach that includes manual analysis (Step 3) as well as computer-assisted analysis (Step 4), and confirmation analysis (Step 5) are triangulated in order to determine the most important factors influencing the digital behavior of Italian startups.

The analysis of the data shows that, on an average, Italian startups have adopted 1.23 digital infrastructures across organizations and 1.75 intra-organizational digital infrastructures. It is also evident that the utilization of these digital infrastructures is sporadic in that, on average, nearly 90% of the reviewed Italian startups adopt no more than two of https://adslwireless.biz/due-diligence-in-italys-ma-transactions/ the inter-organizational digital networks considered and 68% of the analyzed startups have only adopted less than one of the intra-organizational digital infrastructures.

These results suggest that a significant majority of Italian startup companies have a digital follower behavior rather than advancing the digital leader behavior. This could be due to the fact that despite being enrolled into the Startup Act initiative, they have not yet reached the point where they are able to adopt digital leadership strategies. This is the reason that it is recommended to the government to adopt new policies that are aimed at encouraging the digitalization of the Italian Startup Ecosystem. This could include, among other things, public financial incentives for digitalizing startups.
